DESCRIPTION:Stop by the Right Whale Festival in Fernandina Beach on Saturday\, November 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday\, November 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Main Beach Park located at 32 N. Fletcher Ave. \n\n\n\nVisit the Timucuan Parks Foundation table to learn more about Jacksonville’s wilderness parks and preserves and how we work to protect and promote these amazing natural spaces. Hear about the programs we provide – many just for members\, volunteer events that help maintain the parks and preserves\, and how you can\, as a member\, help us continue to serve the community. \n\n\n\nThe Right Whale Festival celebrates the annual return of endangered North Atlantic right whales to the warm coastal waters off northeast Florida and Georgia\, where they give birth to and nurse their young. This family-friendly\, fun event raises awareness of the threats to right whales and how we can help in their recovery. It highlights efforts to protect whales from extinction\, as well as ocean-themed activities and exhibits that emphasize education and environmentally responsible adventures and products. SUMMARY:Morning Celebration with the Birds
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the birds at Riverside Park. Due to the hard work of members of Sierra Club\, Audubon\, COJ Parks\, Friends of Riverside Parks\, IXIA Native Plant Society\, which make up the membership of Riverside Park Kind Reach Program and last but not least Timucuan Parks Foundation; Jacksonville City Council has approved the funding to restore Riverside Park. On November 14\, we will all be meeting up to celebrate the news that will benefit the nesting birds and waterfowl who reside in the park. \n\n\n\nTimucuan Parks Foundation Program Manager Elizabeth Filippelli will be one of the speakers at the event. Various Species of Ducks also utilize the pond as a primary nesting site for their offspring. Back in its original heyday the park was the crown jewel in Jacksonville. Through the efforts of the Riverside Parks Kind Reach Program\, Native plants have been planted and areas restored for nesting birds. The new funding will not only continue this process but restore the pond and to a more natural state.
