SUMMARY:Songs And Stories of Our National Parks
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next Healthy Living event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSongs and Stories of Our National Parks is a collaboration between award-winning storyteller and retired National Park Ranger Gary Bremen and Florida’s Historian-in-Song Grant Livingston. From Yellowstone\, Mammoth Cave and Grand Canyon\, to Gettysburg\, Selma and Stonewall\, Gary shares deeply personal stories from visits to over 270 national parks\, accompanied by folk songs of the times and Grant’s own original songs. Sometimes funny\, sometimes poignant\, the program leaves audiences wanting to create their own National Park memories. Having performed at parks from coast-to-coast\, Gary and Grant are thrilled to be bringing their program to Jacksonville for the first time. \n\n\n\nA National Park Ranger for thirty-six years\, Gary Bremen is a writer\, speaker and storyteller whose work has appeared in national magazines\, on television\, radio and podcasts. As a boy growing up in South Florida\, his parents instilled in him an insatiable wanderlust fueled by an equally insatiable curiosity; he still finds enormous satisfaction in discovering the little things in the world around him. He lives in the little town of Wilton Manors with his husband Roger and their cats Oliver\, Elliott and Amelia in an urban oasis filled with native plants and wildlife. \n\n\n\nSinger-Songwriter Grant Livingston has been a Florida favorite since the mid-eighties. In his songs you may meet armadillos\, pythons and barnacles\, pioneers and invasive plants\, or get a sailing lesson in three easy verses! As a guitarist he employs a mix of ragtime\, country blues\, and early swing. A cross between the late Jimmy Buffett and Sesame Street\, Grant was recently named one of the “Ten Greatest South Florida Folksingers of All Time.” Grant has taught songwriting at Miami-Dade College and coordinates the Nashville Songwriters’ Association’s South Florida chapter. Grant was Artist-in-Residence in Everglades National Park in October 2019. \n\n\n\nFREE BUT REGISTRATION REQUIRED – REGISTER HERE
