SUMMARY:Historic Manhattan Beach\, Fla. Marker Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:Join our friends at the Beaches Museum for the unveiling of the state historical marker commemorating Manhattan Beach\, Florida. Manhattan Beach was Florida’s first African American beach resort in the segregated South and was located at what is now Beach Access 8 in Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park. \nA welcome reception will begin at 10:00 a.m. with light refreshments and the opportunity to view the Beaches Museum’s exhibit\, Recovering Manhattan Beach. The unveiling ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. Honored guests will include descendants of prominent Manhattan Beach businessman Mack Wilson. \nAn RSVP is required for attendance. Attendance will be limited. This is an outdoor event\, but masks are strongly encouraged when not socially distanced from others. \nKathryn Abbey Hanna Park is located at 500 Wonderwood Drive. The event is free\, but attendees are responsible for a park admission fee of $5 per car. Active duty and retired military receive ½ off with identification. The event will be held at Lot 8 inside the park. \nParking: Spaces in Lot 8 are reserved for honored guests and those requiring accessible parking. All other attendees should park in Lot 9. Overflow parking is available in Lot 7.
