DESCRIPTION:Come learn about the 7 Creeks Recreation Area and the Barrier Islands Parks\, view breathtaking art inspired by parks right here in Northeast Florida and discover how our natural spaces instill a sense of place and a sense of well-being. Our exhibition features images highlighting the beauty of the area’s parks and preserves. \nStarting August 31\, 2022\, Timucuan Parks Foundation’s traveling exhibit is on display at the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve visitor center located at Fort Caroline National Memorial through February 27\, 2023. \nThe visitor center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 AM – 5 PM.

SUMMARY:International Coastal Cleanup 2022
DESCRIPTION:The International Coastal Cleanup is part of the annual international effort to keep the oceans (and all shorelines) clean. Join us for these cleanups of the St. Johns River shoreline at three locations: \nFort Caroline National Memorial\n12713 Ft Caroline Rd\nMeet at visitor’s center\n9 – 11 AM \nCastaway Island Preserve\n2921 San Pablo Rd S\nMeet at education center\n9 – 11 AM \nReddie Point Preserve\n4499 Yachtsman Way\nMeet at pavilion by the pier\n9 – 11 AM \nVolunteers are asked to meet at 9 AM at the designated spot\, and wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Also bring work gloves (if you have them)\, sunscreen\, insect repellent\, a hat\, and water (in a reusable water bottle). Timucuan Parks Foundation will have additional work gloves\, equipment and supplies and will also provide snacks and water. \nVolunteers of all ages are welcome. Those under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent\, guardian or scout leader during the project. Volunteers are eligible for community service hours. To receive a waiver or for more information\, contact us at volunteer@timucuanparks.org. \nThese projects are done in partnership with the City of Jacksonville and the National Park Service.

SUMMARY:3rd Annual Talbot Tidewater Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join in the fun and enjoy a range of free outdoor adventures in one of the city’s spectacular natural spaces. \nThis is a great opportunity for trying out recreational activities as well as learning from nature and community exhibitors. \nThe celebration features a kids fishing clinic presented by the National Park Service and Timucuan Parks Foundation. The Junior Ranger Angler program teaches kids how to tie flies and cast their line as well as the ethics of angling\, local Gullah Geechee fishing heritage\, and more. Spots are limited — register for that by emailing friendsoftalbotislands@gmail.com. \nHosted by the Friends of Talbot Islands State Parks\, this event is being held on National Public Lands Day\, a day of service and exploration of the outdoors.
