DESCRIPTION:Come learn about the 7 Creeks Recreation Area and the Barrier Islands Parks\, view breathtaking art inspired by parks right here in Northeast Florida and discover how our natural spaces instill a sense of place and a sense of well-being. Our exhibition features images highlighting the beauty of the area’s parks and preserves. \nStarting August 31\, 2022\, Timucuan Parks Foundation’s traveling exhibit is on display at the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve visitor center located at Fort Caroline National Memorial through February 27\, 2023. \nThe visitor center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 AM – 5 PM.

SUMMARY:Healthy Living: Kayaking in the Timucuan Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Experience the physical and mental benefits of recreating outdoors with this popular series for seniors which gets you outside to explore new parks and preserves\, meet new people\, and enjoy low-impact exercise. \n\n\n\nJoin Timucuan Parks Foundation for a kayak adventure in the Timucuan Preserve. Professional outfitter Kayak Amelia will give a short tutorial and go over safety for the day. We will paddle the kayaks on the Fort George River from the Alimacani boat ramp up to Kingsley Plantation (about 2-2.5 miles) where we will take a break\, eat giant homemade chocolate chip cookies\, take a short walk around the Plantation grounds\, and paddle back. We will be looking for dolphins and birds and other wildlife along the way. (No paddling experience necessary.) \n\n\n\nFree but registration required. Space is limited. DESCRIPTION:Timucuan Parks Foundation\, in partnership with the North Florida Trailblazers chapter of the Florida Trail Association\, is offering a “Beginning Hiking: Women Only” session. \nThe program will feature a 2.5 to 3-mile hike on a packed natural trail through the woods. We will spend the first 30-45 minutes learning about hiking basics — what to wear\, what to pack\, footwear\, day packs\, water\, safety\, etc.\, and then we head out on the trail. \nFree but registration required.  Space is limited. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a shoreline cleanup at Fort Caroline National Memorial. Presumably 3 years worth of debris got dumped in one day by Hurricane Ian! Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. DESCRIPTION:This volunteer project has changed to weeding the camellia beds at Riverside Park on the Westside. We will be: \n\nweeding (and if there is time\, trash pickup). There are 8 beds that need weeding.\nplease bring gardening gloves and any hoes/gardening tools/etc. you might like. Plus a full reuseable water bottle. A volunteer team leader will have snacks.\n\nNote: this project has changed.
