SUMMARY:Castaway Island Preserve Garden Maintenance and Litter Removal
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are needed on Thursday\, May 15 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. to help with pollinator garden maintenance and litter pickup. Please wear closed-toe shoes\, clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty\, and wear a hat to protect you from the sun. If you have work gloves\, please bring those as well as sunscreen\, insect repellent and a full reusable water bottle. We will provide additional water\, snacks\, work equipment\, and insect repellent. \n\n\n\nYou can earn community service hours at this event. Children under 16 must be supervised by their parent/guardian or scout leader. Anyone under 18 must have a parent/guardian’s signature on the liability waiver before starting work. The waiver and a form to join TPF’s volunteer list can be accessed at https://www.timucuanparks.org/volunteer/. SUMMARY:Fort George Inlet Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:We will host a cleanup at Fort George Inlet on Tuesday\, May 20\, from 9 a.m. until noon. Volunteers are needed to help us remove litter from the shoreline at low tide. Please wear closed-toe shoes\, clothes you can get dirty\, and a hat. Bring your work gloves (if you have them)\, sunscreen\, insect repellent\, and a full reusable water bottle. We will have work equipment\, additional water\, snacks\, and extra insect repellent. \n\n\n\nWe will be working at the South end of Little Talbot Island State Park. Park just north of the Ft George River in the parking lot on the left side of the road. If you are coming from downtown\, drive east on Heckscher. From the intersection of I-295 and Heckscher\, it is ~9 miles to the ferry landing and then another 2 miles to the bridge over the Ft. George River.  After you go over the bridge\, look for the turn off to the left that will take you to the parking lot on the north side of Heckscher Drive.  If you get to the entrance to Little Talbot Island State Park\, you have gone too far (we will be working about 3 miles south of the entrance\, where you would pay). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVolunteers can earn community service hours.
