Napoleon & Annie Broward DESCENDANTS

The Napoleon Bonaparte Broward House is owned and managed for the public good by the National Park Service (NPS) and is part of Jacksonville's national park, the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve.

Timucuan Parks Foundation (TPF), the friends group and philanthropic partner to Timucuan Preserve, has its office at the Broward House. Both NPS and TPF staff are pleased to host visits for descendants as schedule allows.

On Monday, January 30, 2023, descendants of the Governor and Mrs. Broward (as well as his cousins) convened at the Broward House for an informal reunion coordinated by granddaughter Sharon Hardee Jimenez and TPF staff.

Family members visited with each other virtually and in-person and took a ranger-led tour of the house. The virtual Zoom meeting was recorded and is available at this link (LINK COMING SOON).

TPF staff work with granddaughter Sharon Hardee Jimenez, who is writing a fictionalized blog called Girls on the Porch about the eight Broward daughters and their families, to highlight the accomplishments of the inimitable Annie Douglass Broward and her children. After the senator-elect's untimely death, Mrs. Broward took to the courts where she prevailed in retaining control of their properties and wealth to support the family — a feat at that time. The daughters went on to finish university and become accomplished women in their own right.
