Timucuan Parks Foundation Presents Photographers Will Dickey and Tom Schifanella at its Exhibition at the Beaches Museum

Timucuan Parks Foundation and the Beaches Museum will host its Boardwalk Talk at TPF’s “Celebrate & Explore Our Wilderness Parks” exhibition on Thursday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m. Photographers Will Dickey and Tom Schifanella present “Land and Air: The Nature Photography of Will Dickey and Tom Schifanella.” Dickey’s still images and Schifanella’s drone footage are featured in the exhibition. The two will share their inspiration and techniques for capturing the natural wonders in Northeast Florida. The event can be joined in-person or virtually. Following the presentation, Dickey and Schifanella will be signing TPF’s “Special Places” coffee table book which features Dickey’s photograph and which Schifanella and his company helped to design. Schifanella will also be signing his book “Sacred Waters,” a Florida paddling guide. Schifanella is donating a portion of the proceeds from the guide to the nonprofit.

Dickey has a passion for capturing images of the landscapes, seascapes and wildlife that are found throughout the region. He developed an interest in photography while in high school and college in Alabama. His work has been displayed in local art galleries and exhibited at area outdoor art festivals. Dickey served as a staff photographer for the Florida Times-Union for 37 years where he won regional and national awards for his photographs. He retired from the paper last year and continues to capture the natural beauty of Northeast Florida especially in the Timucuan Preserve and around the St. Johns River.

Schifanella is an award-winning advertising agency creative with a fervor for creating images that document the world. He enjoys photographing images of nature through both still photography and drone footage. His images have been featured in exhibitions and publications including in National Geographic’s Planet or Plastic?, an international photography exhibition devoted to raising awareness of the global crisis in plastic waste. Schifanella has also received many awards and accolades for his work.

Guests can join the July 15 Boardwalk Talk in-person or virtually, but pre-registration is required. There will be limited attendance for the in-person event and social distancing and masks are required. Timucuan Parks Foundation’s 20th Anniversary “Celebrate & Explore Our Wilderness Parks” showcases Northeast Florida’s parks and preserves through the work of Dickey and Schifanella along with Fine Artist Kathy Stark.
