Friends of Talbot Islands State Parks invites the community to join them on Saturday, Sept. 26, for the 7th Annual Talbot Tidewater Celebration. It is a day to celebrate natural spaces in the Talbot Islands State Parks and Timucuan Preserve. Guests can enjoy a day of free, family-friendly fun at the Ribault Club on Fort George Island, 11241 Ft. George Rd. The Talbot Tidewater Celebration, hosted by the Friends of Talbot Islands, is held each year on National Public Lands Day and is supported by Florida State Parks, Florida Fish and Wildlife, and the Timucuan Parks Foundation.
Visitors can enjoy guided bird and nature hikes, interactive displays on shorebirds, sea turtles, and archaeology, and mock dolphin and manatee rescues. There will be a fossil and shark-tooth exhibit, archaeology and history presentations, a kids’ area with arts and crafts, and local and state conservation exhibitors. Guests can also kayak among the marshes of Ft. George Island, courtesy of Hagan Coastal Outfitters and Timucuan Parks Foundation.
Registration is open for the popular kids’ fishing clinic, which is free to children ages 6 to 17. Kids can learn casting, safety, knot tying, ethical angling, and fishing. Space is limited and can be reserved by emailing [email protected].
