SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Join the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve’s cultural resource team as they take you behind the scenes at Kingsley Plantation to discuss how the park is preserving our cultural heritage for future generations. Space is limited. Call 904-251-3537 for reservations.
These special tours are part of our Year of Rememberance events.
This year marks the 400th anniversary of the first enslaved Africans forcibly brought to Virginia. While Spanish explorers had previously brought enslaved people to what became the United States, it was the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in English-occupied North America that led to the institution of slavery in the U.S. To remember the struggle of the enslaved, Kingsley Plantation, part of Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, will offer a year of special commemoration programming to honor the stories and culture of those silenced by enslavement and tackle slavery’s lasting legacy.
Reservation required.
This behind the scenes tour goes through small spaces and for safety will be limited to six people at a time. Call 904-251-3537 for reservations.
