May 20, 2025 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
We will host a cleanup at Fort George Inlet on Tuesday, May 20, from 9 a.m. until noon. Volunteers are needed to help us remove litter from the shoreline at low tide. Please wear closed-toe shoes, clothes you can get dirty, and a hat. Bring your work gloves (if you have them), sunscreen, insect repellent, and a full reusable water bottle. We will have work equipment, additional water, snacks, and extra insect repellent.
We will be working at the South end of Little Talbot Island State Park. Park just north of the Ft George River in the parking lot on the left side of the road. If you are coming from downtown, drive east on Heckscher. From the intersection of I-295 and Heckscher, it is ~9 miles to the ferry landing and then another 2 miles to the bridge over the Ft. George River. After you go over the bridge, look for the turn off to the left that will take you to the parking lot on the north side of Heckscher Drive. If you get to the entrance to Little Talbot Island State Park, you have gone too far (we will be working about 3 miles south of the entrance, where you would pay).

Volunteers can earn community service hours. Children under 16 must be supervised by their parent/guardian or scout leader. Anyone under 18 must have a parent/guardian’s signature on the liability waiver before starting work. The waiver and a form to join TPF’s volunteer list can be accessed at https://www.timucuanparks.org/volunteer/. For more information, contact Felicia Boyd at [email protected] or call (904) 374-1107.
