Healthy Living: The Isle of Sarabay
The Archaeology and Indigenous History of Today’s Big Talbot Island
We are pleased to be hosting Keith Ashley, UNF Professor of Anthropology, who will be presenting, “The Archaeology and Indigenous History of the Isle of Sarabay (today’s Big Talbot Island).” He will be taking us on a tour of the rich Native American history of Big Talbot Island State Park, with special emphasis on the Grand Shell Ring (AD 1000) and the Mocama Timucua village of Sarabay (AD 1500-1610).
Keith is a dynamic speaker and we’re excited to get an update on the work he and his students are doing up on Big Talbot Island.
Registration is required at this link.
This is a virtual presentation on Zoom hosted in partnership by Timucuan Parks Foundation and AARP Jacksonville. The Zoom meeting details will be emailed to attendees the day before.
