Martin Luther King Day of Service

A Day of Park Restoration and Resilience with the Timucuan Parks Foundation

Timucuan Parks Foundation, along with JaxParks, is hosting the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service volunteer project on Monday, Jan. 21 at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park. Volunteers can join us from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. to help with invasive plant removal, trail maintenance and shore cleanup.

Tell the ranger at the front gate that you are there to volunteer. Meet and sign in at the front parking lot. Free admission to Hanna Park for all volunteers.

WHAT
Trail maintenance (lopping and chopping), invasive plant removal (lantana and kalanchoe), and shoreline cleanup. Children under 16 must be supervised by their parent/guardian or youth leader during the project.  Anyone under 18 years old must have signature of parent/ guardian on liability waiver and a photo release prior to starting work; waiver and photo release can be obtained in advance by clicking here.

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING
Wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We recommend that you bring sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, sunglasses and a water bottle. Please bring loppers and/or clippers and work gloves if you have them.

WHAT WE PROVIDE
Work gloves, equipment and supplies, more insect repellent, snacks, and water.
