Join Timucuan Parks Foundation and Florida State Parks for a First Day Hike at Little Talbot Island State Park

Timucuan Parks Foundation and Florida State Parks are partnering up for a First Day Hike on January 1 at Little Talbot Island State Park. Start the new year off on the right foot with your family and friends. Little Talbot Island State Park is at 12157 Heckscher Drive. Participants should meet at Pavilion One in the first beach parking lot by 9 a.m. Please plan to arrive 30 minutes early as this is a very popular event, and you will want to allow time to pay the entrance fee, park, and prepare for the hike. The cost is $4 for a single occupancy vehicle, $5 per vehicle for up to eight people and $2 per bike or pedestrian.

Participants can enjoy a ranger-led hike along the Dune Ridge Trail, one of Florida’s premier nature trails at the state park. This trail meanders for two miles atop an ancient dune ridge under a canopy of live oaks, cedars and sabal palms in a lush maritime hammock. The hike continues with a two-mile walk along Little Talbot Island’s picturesque beach, bringing you back to the parking area.

Please wear comfortable closed-toed shoes and layered clothing, and bring water, snacks and sunscreen. For more information, contact Timucuan Parks Foundation at [email protected].
