Monthly walk will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at Hanna Park
Jacksonville, Fla., March 12, 2019 – Timucuan Parks Foundation, AARP and Women of Color Cultural Foundation, Inc are hosting their monthly Wednesday walk in their Healthy Living series on Wednesday, March 20 at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park. The organizations designed the series, titled Healthy Living: Fresh Air, Fitness, Friendship and Fun, to promote healthy living and the therapeutic effects a walk in the park can provide.
The March into Spring “Walk with a Doc” will begin at 9 a.m. at the park located at 500 Wonderwood Drive. Participants should let the front gate know they are there for the Healthy Living Series to get free access into the park. The walk will take people through a variety of scenic trails along the shorelines of Hanna Park and within the mature coastal hammock with majestic oaks. Participants are asked to pre-register at https://aarp.cvent.com/HealthyLivingMarchintoSpring032019. Walkers should wear comfortable shoes and bring a reusable water bottle. Snacks will be provided.
Participants can also become a Dream Walker by bringing a bag of 25 new or gently worn shoes for The Dream Walkers – Walk in My Shoes community-wide shoe drive. The goal of the drive is to collect 3,000 bags of shoes for needy families. All sizes and styles of shoes are accepted. Donors are asked to tie or rubber band each pair of shoes together and place in a plastic bag. For more information on the shoe drive, call (904) 635-5191.
The Healthy Living series will continue in April with the Healthy Living: Art in the Park event. It will be held on April 17 at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park.
